Acid-proof bricks, tiles and cement systems

When the chemistry below the lining is sulphuric, phosphoric, hydrochloric or wet flue acid, you do not want a refractory — you want an acid-proof construction system. Bricks, tiles, jointing cements and membrane systems supplied as a matched set, conformant to IS:4860 and laid by our specialist installation crews.

Acid Resistant Bricks — what they are, when to specify

Acid-resistant bricks are dense, low-porosity ceramic bricks fired at high temperature to fuse the matrix and minimise acid penetration. They are bedded and pointed with acid-resistant cements (silicate, sulphur or polymer-based) over a continuous membrane that protects the structural concrete. Selecting compatible brick + cement + membrane chemistries is what turns three good products into one durable lining.

Stocked grades — pick by service condition

Indicative properties only. Final specification is set per application after we review your operating envelope.

Grade Composition Service Limit Typical Application
Acid-Resistant Brick Class I (IS:4860) Acid resist ≥96% Up to 200 °C Sulphuric/phosphoric acid plant floors and walls
Acid-Resistant Tile (IS:4457) Acid resist ≥97% Up to 150 °C Floor finishes, drain channels, sumps
Sodium Silicate Cement Acid service Brick bedding and pointing — acid side
Sulphur Cement ≤90 °C, acid HCl, dilute H2SO4 — fast-set
Furane Resin Cement Strong acid + alkali Mixed-chemistry sumps, ETP tanks
Bituminous Membrane Substrate protection Lays between concrete and brick lining

Standard brick (230x115x75 mm) and tile (200x100x20/25/38 mm) sizes, plus radius bricks for vessel curvatures. Cement grade and membrane choice set per the duty chemistry.

Spec advice before quote

Choosing the right grade for the operating envelope makes a much bigger lifecycle-cost difference than haggling on the cheapest grade. Our technical team will recommend by zone before quoting.

ISO 9001:2015 audit-ready

Every batch ships with composition and dimensional QC records, supported by our ISO 9001:2015 certification (Cert. 11553, AQSR / USAC accredited, valid through 17 Sept 2027).

Acid Resistant Bricks questions, answered

Why does the cement matter as much as the brick?

Acid migrates through joints far faster than through brick. A premium acid-proof brick set in mismatched cement will fail at the joints in months. Specifying cement chemistry to match the duty (silicate vs. sulphur vs. furane) is the single biggest decision in an acid-proof lining.

Do you supply installation crews?

Yes. Acid-proof linings are unforgiving of poor workmanship — joint width, butter-coat thickness and curing schedule all matter. Our installation crews are the same teams that lay refractory linings, trained on acid-proof systems by our cement supplier partners.

Can you handle complex geometries like sumps and drains?

Yes. Sumps, drain channels, vessel transitions and pipe penetrations are standard scope. We supply radius and shaped tiles and detail the membrane terminations on the drawings before site work starts.
