Industry · Aluminium & Non-Ferrous

For aluminium, zinc and copper plants

Non-ferrous metallurgy is unforgiving on refractories: aluminium attacks alumina-based brick by reduction, dross builds up everywhere, and any iron pickup ruins the metal. We supply the low-iron, non-wetting linings that aluminium plants actually want — silicon-carbide for cells, low-cement bauxite castables for melting furnaces, and engineered shapes for launders and tap-out blocks.

Equipment we line in Aluminium & Non-Ferrous

For each piece of equipment below, we list the wear pattern we engineer against and the product families we typically supply. Click any product pill to see grades, specifications and FAQ for that family.

Reduction Cell Sidewalls

Wear pattern: Cryolite-bath corrosion, bath penetration, sodium attack at cathode

What we supply: Nitride-bonded silicon-carbide bricks (Si3N4-SiC), oxynitride-bonded SiC for premium cells

Cathode Block Joints & Ramming Paste

Wear pattern: Joint penetration, sodium expansion, electrochemical wear

What we supply: Cold and hot-rammed carbon paste (sourced), refractory edge-ramming paste, peripheral seal castables

Aluminium Melting Furnace

Wear pattern: Aluminium reduction attack on silica/alumina, dross build-up at metal-line, thermal shock from charging

What we supply: Low-cement bauxite castable + non-wetting additives (BaSO4, SiC), 80% alumina bricks for hearth, monoblock burner blocks PCPF

Holding & Casting Furnace

Wear pattern: Metal-line corundum growth, dross at corners, thermal cycling between batches

What we supply: Anti-corundum (low-Si, non-wet) castable, fused-silica/mullite specials at metal-line, ceramic-fibre back-up

Transfer Ladles & Launders

Wear pattern: Iron pickup risk, dross adhesion, mechanical impact at lip

What we supply: Ultra-low iron LCC castable, PCPF launder shells, dense fireclay safety lining

Anode Bake Furnace

Wear pattern: Pitch-volatile attack, thermal cycling, gas-flow erosion in flue walls

What we supply: 75-80% alumina bricks for flue walls, low-cement castable for headwalls, calcium-silicate back-up insulation

Zinc Retorts & Copper Anode Furnaces

Wear pattern: Slag and matte penetration, mechanical wear at slag tap, thermal shock at converter

What we supply: Silicon-carbide bricks (clay-bonded, nitride-bonded), 90% alumina specials at tap, magnesia-spinel for anode-furnace sidewall

Supply & Despatch

Aluminium-belt customers in Pune, Belagavi, Hirakud and Renukoot draw from our Chakan stock, with engineered specials (launder shells, tap-out blocks) made-to-drawing in our PCPF facility. We coordinate dispatch with cell-line shutdown windows.

Aluminium & Non-Ferrous questions, answered

Quick answers to the questions plant maintenance teams ask us most often.

Do your castables contain non-wetting additives for aluminium?

Yes. The aluminium-furnace-grade castables we supply are formulated with non-wetting additives (typically BaSO4 + SiC at controlled levels) to suppress corundum growth and dross adhesion at the metal-line.

Can you guarantee low iron for the casting-furnace bricks?

Yes. Low-iron grade selection is critical for aluminium — Fe2O3 typically <1.5% in the working face. Test certificates ship with each lot.

Do you supply launders and tap-out blocks pre-cast?

Yes. Launder shells, tap-out blocks, peripheral cell seals — all available as PCPF (pre-cast pre-fired) shapes, made to your drawing. This eliminates on-site dry-out and reduces shutdown time.

Are your SiC cell sidewall bricks oxidation-tested?

Yes. Nitride-bonded SiC for cell sidewalls is supplied with oxidation-resistance test data — weight gain after 24 h at 1200 °C in air is typically reported.
